Hi James - I personally haven't seen a connection between MERRIAM and MERRYMAN - but I am certainly interested in reading anything you find out - please post your findings.

I don't how "close" the names have to be, but I have a Grandfather MERRIAM (and, even as a newbie, I have seen about 100(?) variations on that one--Merryham, Meriam, etc.) I have essentially NO genealogical experience, but am interested in solving problems like this on a long-range basis...
